WASTE MANAGEMENT: Click here for all you need to know about what to place in which container, collection days, batteries, e-waste etc. Regular trash pick up is Thursday.
To schedule a bulky goods pick up, please contact Waste Management at 1(866) WMRECYCLE or (760) 439-2824 at least 24 hours in advance of your regular collection day, as pick up will occur on your collection day.
Place unwanted cell phones and used household batteries in a sealed clear plastic storage bag and place them on top of their blue recycle cart

PAINT DISPOSAL:  Paint does not belong in the trash or down the drain. Visit www.paintcare.org to find the nearest drop off point (or call 1 855 724 6809).

LIBRARIES

You’ll probably find Vista Library (4 miles) and Carlsbad “Cole” Library (7 miles) more convenient than Oceanside Library (10 miles) unless you plan to visit Oceanside Civic Center in the same location. Each Library requires a separate membership card which is available to any resident of N. County cities.

US POST: if you go away for more than a few days, please ensure your have your neighbor collect your mail or have USPS Hold Mail. Note that if your mail box is full fUSPS will drop mail on your doorstep. You can collect your held mail at 1895 Avenida Del Oro, Oceanside, CA 92056. For stamps etc, your nearest USPS is in Vista: 960 Postal Way, Vista

SKATEBOARDING
Skateboarding is totally forbidden in our community, for several reasons - refer to THE HANDBOOK. Here are some skateboard parks in the area:

  • CARLSBAD: 2560 Orion Way, Carlsbad, CA; open 8 am to 10 pm; lighted; 5 miles.
  • OCEANSIDE: MLK PARK, 4300 Mesa Drive. 6 miles. For several other parks in Oceanside see: Skate Parks

LOCAL HIKING: CALAVERA NATURE PRESERVE
Just to the west of our community, the city of Carlsbad has carved out a piece of land as a nature preserve.  This  110-acre site features Mount Calavera and has over four miles of hiking and biking trials.  Just to the north and northeast of the preserve is the 400-acre Lake Calavera Reservoir, managed by the Carlsbad Municipal Water District.  And to the south of the preserve is the 400-acre Carlsbad Highlands Ecological Reserve, managed by the California Department of Fish and Game. CHILDREN'S PARK: Oak Riparian Park, 4625 Lake Blvd, Oceanside.
Turn left when leaving the Southridge Gate and the park is less than 1/2 a mile. Children's climbing frames suitable for up to about 7 years old. Also picnic locations and tables.

WATERING SCHEDULE: water emergency has been reduced to level 1.  Mandatory restrictions still in force include: 

  • Irrigate only between the hours of 6:00 pm and 10:00 am.
  • Do not irrigate for at least 48 hours after rain.

GRAFFITI / TAGGING: If you see an act of vandalism or graffiti in the area, call the Oceanside Police Department immediately at 760-435-4900. When you see graffiti in your neighborhood, call the City’s Graffiti Hotline at 760-435-4466. Reporting graffiti is important so it can be cleaned up and the police can identify the vandals for prosecution.
